Buccal Massage for Sagging Skin

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether this happens at twenty or eighty

- Henry Ford

Greetings V+V/High Desert Family,

Did you notice I changed my name? So many people have asked me how I keep my skin semi-youthful in such a harsh climate. I've lived my whole life in the high desert of Colorado, thus the name High Desert Skin, in addition to V+V. The answer is two fold: 1. Genetics (thank you, Mom!) and 2. Obsessively treating my skin like a sensitive friend I need to be really nice to. If I can do it, you certainly can too!

I'm always looking for (non-surgical) ways to help my clients love their skin for where it is at, and make whatever changes are possible. Skin care products treat the skin itself, which is vital. The reality of sagging skin, however, relates to the underlying fascia and musculature, not the skin itself. None of us are escaping gravity, but there certainly are things we can do to keep things in place as long as possible. Enter Buccal massage.

Buccal Massage: What It Is

Buccal massage is a specialized form of facial massage that targets the muscles and tissues inside the mouth and cheeks. The modality utilizes skilled hands and gentle pressure to stimulate circulation, release tension, and promote lymphatic drainage, ultimately rejuvenating the facial contours. By carefully manipulating the muscles of the oral cavity, buccal massage effectively lifts and tones the face, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness. You can learn the technique yourself, no need to go to the spa for this treatment!

Sculpted Beauty: How To Do It

Begin by thoroughly washing your hands. Using your index and middle fingers, apply a small amount of Balm of VerbenoneWhipped Roses, or Whipped Water to your cheeks and the inside of your mouth. Starting on either side, place your fingers inside your mouth, positioning them against the inner cheek. Apply light pressure and make small circular motions, moving from the lower to the upper cheek area. Gradually increase the pressure, focusing on any areas of tension or tightness. Repeat the same process on the second side. Throughout the massage, maintain a relaxed jaw and breathe deeply. To enhance lymphatic drainage, gently sweep your fingers along the jawline and down towards the lymph nodes located near the ears. Finish by rinsing your mouth and applying a a serum and hydrosol combo.

Ageless Beauty: What Results Can I Expect

This specialized technique helps to contour and lift the facial muscles, resulting in improved facial symmetry and a more defined jawline. By promoting lymphatic drainage, buccal massage reduces facial puffiness and promotes a more sculpted appearance. The increased blood circulation nurtures the skin, enhancing its natural radiance and promoting a healthy, youthful glow. Additionally, this therapeutic practice aids in releasing muscle tension, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promoting overall relaxation. With regular sessions, buccal massage can contribute to improved skin texture, diminished signs of aging, and an overall revitalized and rejuvenated facial appearance.

Let me know how you do with this technique.

As always, thank you so very much for reviewing products you buy/have bought. This small business owner appreciates it!

 With love,

Judy
